St. Patrick’s Day Math Pack {K-1}
There are so many fun celebrations in March as we look froward to Spring and warm weather. For younger kids, it’s especially fun to celebrate Dr. Seuss and his many lovable characters. And of course as math geeks, it’s essential to celebrate Pi Day (which also happens to be Einstein’s birthday!). Then we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with shamrocks and pots of gold and all things green. Because my kids love themed lessons (and because I’m not usually very good at putting themed lessons together!) I’ve created a St. Patrick’s Day math pack for Kindergarten and first grade!

This math lesson pack covers a variety of skills my kids have been working on recently, so I hope that you will find it useful as well! 🙂
Math Topics Covered in the St. Patrick’s Day Math Pack:
- Using ten frames to model subtraction
- Modeling the numbers 11-20 with ten frames
- Addition and subtraction within 20
- Find the missing number (addition and subtraction sentences)
The best part about themed practice like this is coloring all the cute pictures, so be sure to have a box of crayons handy!
And if your kids need something concrete to help them in solving the problems, you will also want some sort of manipulative available for them to use. This can include pennies, base ten blocks, q-tips (a super simple option), LEGO bricks or anything else you have lying around.
And if you’re looking for some fun books to include in your St. Patrick’s Day lessons, try one of these!
Included in this K-1 Math Pack:
- 1 page: matching subtraction sentences to ten frames
- 1 page: building the numbers 11-20 using ten frames
- 2 pages: find the missing number in addition and subtraction sentences
- 1 page: color the answer addition practice

I hope you find these math practice pages to be a fun addition to your St. Patrick’s Day lesson plans and activities!
