FREE Simple Printable Division Games {1-2 Digit Divisors}
How did you learn long division? Did your teacher drill the steps in your head? Was a fun song or chant involved? Or did your teacher write problem after problem on the board, while you copied them down? This wonderful math skill can be a struggle for many students. Long divison can be, well….long (guess the name clearly states that), and it can be tedious! We can’t get around the longness of long division, or the fact that the steps seem to go on for infinite. BUT, we can add some fun, hands-on experience to the process. This set of printable division games is an easy way to practice!

Teaching Long Division
Did you know that you can teach long division with manipulatives?? Don’t worry, it doesn’t involve counting out 1,000 tiles or something crazy like that.
All you need are some base ten blocks and an understanding of arrays. Most times multiplication is introduced using arrays and now you can even see arrays used in multi-digit multiplication.
I know that I have overlooked helping children connect multiplication and division by beginning my division unit by teaching arrays.
Our students obviously won’t solve all their division problems by creating arrays, but by pulling out those base ten blocks, connections are made and foundations established that will help them be successful as they tackle long division.
Next, comes the process of teaching the steps of long division. There are many mnemonic sayings that will help your kiddos, or even anchor charts for them to reference when they get stuck.
Finally, students need practice and more practice. You can get in practice with these puzzles that also incorporate arrays, and you can play this set of FREE Long Division BUMP Games.
What You Get With Long Division BUMP
This game comes with two game boards and 27 division problems per game.
The first game has children working on long division with two digit divisors. The answers or quotients are all single digits and they do not have remainders, making this a great place to start when tackling this math concept.
The second game has children working on long division with one digit divisors. The quotients for this game board are in the tens and hundreds. This allows for some problems to be a little easier, but also gets in practice with longer division problems.
Prep-Work for the Printable Division Games
- Print game boards on card stock paper. (link to the download is below)
- Print the division problems on card stock paper and cut out. Place cards in a pile, face down.
- Provide two different colored game markers (unifix cubes work well), pencil, and paper.
How to Play Long Division Bump
- To begin, player one draws a card and solves the problem on a piece of paper. The player then finds the answer on the game board and does one of the following:
a. Covers up the blank answer with their game piece
b. Places a second game piece on the answer making it secure (If they covered up this answer earlier)
c. Bump off the game piece belonging to their opponent and place their game piece on the answer
d. Nothing! The answer is already secured.
- Next, player two does the same thing.
Players continue taking turns and playing according to the rules above until all spaces on the game board are covered and secure.
The player with the most secured answers, wins!
